We all hear the phrases “give yourself grace” and “self-care” all the time and probably a lot more during this current season of our lives. BUT Hearing and living it are two different things. This past month has been challenging for all of us, including me.
I have had two people sick and quarantined in two different rooms, leaving me to care for them and the house, and my business all by myself. I learned very quickly to give myself grace in anything past cooking and cleaning. I learned that as long as people were fed and comfortable, that was the highest accomplishment of the day. I didn’t set any goals for anything else. I checked on family and friends, picking different ones every few days.
GIve yourselfgrace and selfcare
I practiced self-care by sleeping as much as I could, even if it was on the couch. I ate healthily but had my treats, I asked for help, if possible. I took the time to sit and read with a cup of tea, even if that was late at night, once everyone was tucked in. I talked to family members that were not at home as a way to connect. We got creative and used zoom and Facebook messenger to celebrate birthdays and just see each other. I would take 5 minutes in the car to just chill without hearing any request from anyone! I talk about ways to connect, and self-care in my FB live you can listen here: https://www.facebook.com/GetItDoneWithSondraRay/videos/280495852953200/
During the season of being at home, it’s essential to give yourself grace and do self-care however that looks to you. You can’t pour from an empty cup, so please take the time to fill your cup and stay healthy!
